In December of 2000 Pastor Dusty sensed a call by God to return home to Tucson where He grew up. At first this call was nothing more than a love for the Tucson area but soon God focused that love into a broken heart for everyone in Tucson who didn’t know about the amazing love of Jesus Christ and his redemptive plan. Over the next 5 years God continued to clarify that call to include planting a church that would be reproductive and actively involved in the long term planting of churches that would reach all of Tucson and cover Southern Arizona.
That call ultimately lead Pastor Dusty and his wife Jamie and two sons, Josiah and Jonah + one on the way to Sahuarita. Two months after arriving in June of 05 the family was rounded out when Sophia was born.
For the rest of that year Pastor Dusty was on staff as the “Pastor of Church Planting” at Foothills Community Church on the Northwest side of Tucson. Foothills was started with the desire to one day plant churches and MY CHURCH was their first. It was Pastor Dusty’s job to recruit a launch team from among the members of Foothills that would commit to one year of service to get the new church started.
After much planning and preparation on Palm Sunday of 2006 MY CHURCH held is first service at the American Legion Near the Titan Missile Museum. For the next 4 months MY CHURCH continued at the American Legion with very few people finding their way to the little congregation.
In August our first Vacation Bible School was held at the Sahuarita Lake Park Amphitheater. The following Sunday MY CHURCH moved outside and for the next 2 years continued to meet in the Amphitheater every Sunday rain or shine. Praise God that during that time, through monsoon or spring time. We only got rained on 1 time and only for about 10 seconds. Through Summers of 100 + and winters below freezing at service time a very dedicated group of young Christians and some veterans, set up and tore down and worshiped God in the heart of the Sahuarita community.
In October of 2009 we were able to move in to the Sahuarita School District Auditorium pods were we meet still today. At the same time we were able to purchase 8.4 acres of land on Williams Ranch Rd. in the heart of Rancho Sahuarita.
